Your Mission:
As a Project Development Specialist with Hydrostor in Australia you will help support the planning and development of major A-CAES long duration storage projects across the region from early stages through to financial close.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures:
Project Development Coordination
- Support the structured planning and development of major infrastructure projects through coordination of land access, approvals, and early-stage delivery frameworks.
- Work alongside the SVP of Project Execution and project leadership team to align regulatory, commercial, and technical inputs into a cohesive delivery strategy.
- Assist with the implementation of post-approval conditions and ensure documentation is in place for compliance with Development Approvals and regulatory obligations.
Approvals & Compliance Support
- Coordinate Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) activities, including consultant inputs, reporting milestones, and engagement with planning authorities.
- Support the tracking and delivery of post-approval and compliance documentation, including evidence registers and planning condition trackers.
- Assist with the preparation of landholder agreements, easements, and other land tenure documents.
Reporting & Stakeholder Interface
- Prepare clear, structured reports, presentations, and dashboards for internal project teams, executive leadership, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Support engagement tracking and documentation related to stakeholder, community, and Indigenous engagement activities.
- Coordinate the collation of materials for Steering Committee meetings, including decision papers and action tracking.
Financial Close & Due Diligence
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project data rooms and responding to equity investor and lender due diligence requirements.
- Support financial close activities by gathering, validating, and packaging key development documentation and compliance evidence.
- Contribute to the development of business case inputs and assist in budget tracking and reporting to internal stakeholders.
Business Analysis & Delivery Readiness
- Map project workflows and develop tools to track progress across land, stakeholder, technical, and approval workstreams.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to support the transition from development to execution phase.
- Ensure alignment between regulatory conditions, community agreements, and project planning to reduce risk and enable smooth mobilisation.
Who You Are:
We are looing to appoint a Project Development Specialist to join our growing, dynamic team in Melbourne Australia.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in the project development life cycle ideally within a relatable industry on large scale complex projects in the region.
The ideal candidate will bring a proactive and collaborative approach with effective communication and relationship building skills, as you will interact with various stakeholders both internally and externally across multiple locations and projects.
What You Bring:
- 7–15 years’ experience in project development or operational roles within mining, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- Prior experience in roles such as Project Coordinator, Junior Project Manager, or Superintendent in a processing plant / power plant.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare project reports and presentations for senior management, boards, or funding partners.
- Experience coordinating approvals, compliance deliverables, or landholder/stakeholder inputs.
- Experience in the development of high-level project schedules during early development phases.
- Exposure to budget tracking, business case inputs, or project cost coordination.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Procore) is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
Desirable Attributes
- Knowledge of the environmental planning systems, including EIS and State Significant Development pathways.
- Familiarity with land access processes, Indigenous engagement, or community benefit agreements.
- Experience in supporting due diligence processes or financial close activities.
- Interest in renewable energy, energy storage, or sustainability-focused infrastructure development.
