We’re supporting the development of a more resilient electricity grid and invite you to be at the forefront of this work!
Why Hydrostor?
Our cutting-edge A-CAES technology is uniquely poised to revolutionize the energy landscape. Join us as we lead the way in shaping a reliable and secure energy future.
Your Mission
The Manager, Engineering – Pipeline Projects is responsible for leading and coordinating Front-End Loading (FEL-1 and FEL-2) engineering efforts across Hydrostor’s pipeline of energy storage projects. This role serves as the technical lead for early-stage project development, ensuring alignment on scope, schedule, and budget while acting as the primary interface between internal stakeholders and external engineering partners.
Focused on one project at a time, this role drives technical execution through FEL-1 and FEL-2 and enables a seamless transition into detailed engineering and execution by project delivery teams. The immediate priority for this role will be supporting Hydrostor’s Quinte project in Southern Ontario through end-of-year milestones and bid submission.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures
- Lead and manage FEL-1 and FEL-2 engineering phases for pipeline projects, ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables
- Serve as the primary internal lead, interfacing with external engineering partners and consultants
- Own and manage engineering scope, schedule, and budget throughout early-stage project development
- Coordinate cross-functional technical inputs to support development and commercial activities (e.g., permitting, commercial structuring, proposals)
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring project readiness for handoff into execution
- Provide clear reporting and updates on engineering progress, risks, and key decisions to internal stakeholders
- Support bid and proposal development with technical inputs and engineering alignment
- Lead the transition and handoff of projects post FEL-2 to the execution team (e.g., Project Engineering)
- Initially take ownership of FEL-2 engineering for the Quinte project, driving progress through critical milestones and submission timelines
Who You Are
You are a technically strong and commercially aware engineering leader who thrives in early-stage project development. You bring the ability to manage complexity, align diverse stakeholders, and translate technical requirements into actionable plans. You are comfortable owning outcomes, working through ambiguity, and driving progress across multiple interfaces in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in engineering and project development, preferably within energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline); master’s degree considered an asset
- Proven experience managing FEL-1/FEL-2 or equivalent early-stage engineering phases
- Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget
- Experience coordinating and managing external engineering firms and technical consultants
- Ability to bridge technical and commercial considerations within project development
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience supporting bids, proposals, or commercial development activities is an asset
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to take ownership of projects from concept through handoff
