About your role:
You will be driving one or more projects directly related to the company core mission, such as the development of single- and two-qubit SFQ-controlled gates, SFQ-based readout techniques, or calibration of multi-qubit processors. You will be responsible for setting up the test infrastructure for the project, running measurements, performing analysis of the data, extracting device parameters, and characterizing qubit and gate performance to provide critical feedback for the design and fabrication teams. You will regularly discuss the data with colleagues to brainstorm next steps, develop measurement protocols, and lead any required cryogenic and room-temperature hardware upgrades. You will formulate the requirements for the software team to help them develop the software tools that meet the needs of your project.
Required experience:
· Solid understanding of single-qubit and two-qubit physics.
· Practical experience characterizing qubits in any hardware platform at the single-qubit level.
· Attention to details in setting-up and running measurements. Ability to formulate hypotheses and verify them through experimental tests.
· Experience with cryogenic systems.
· Strong programming skills (Python).
· Knowledge or willingness to learn and implement different optimization and calibration techniques.
· Ability to summarize and present results to the larger team in an organized way.
· Ph.D. degree in experimental or applied physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
Preferred additional experience:
· Experience with superconducting circuits.
· Formal training in digital circuit technology and/or microwave engineering.
· Experience with software version control systems.
· Hands-on experience working with two- or more qubit systems and/or understanding of the challenges involved.
· Knowledge of the quantum circuit characterization techniques (randomized benchmarking, quantum process tomography, cross-entropy benchmarking, etc.)
